  • The Global Competitiveness Report 2018

    At 33rd, compared to the previous 34th position, Chile remains as the most competitive economy in Latin America, with a very stable profile. The country continues to build up its traditional assets, which are related to a strong institutional setup with low levels of corruption and an efficient government. The most solid pillar is the macroeconomic stability, with low levels of both public deficit and public debt and efficient markets, despite some rigidities in its labor market.

    Chile is the best performer in the region, which reflects both in terms of the attractiveness of its environment for private investment in infrastructure and the development of its infrastructure network.

  • Corruption Perception (Transparency International)

    Transparency International (TI) defines corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. This definition encompasses corrupt practices in both the public and private sectors. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranks countries according to the perception of corruption in the public sector. The CPI is an aggregate indicator that combines different sources of information about corruption, making it possible to compare countries. In 2017, Chile ranked 26th.
